I’m Back!! // Where I’ve been + Reading & Blogging Updates

Hi, everyone! I feel a bit rusty writing this, not gonna lie, but I’m back from my 3 month break. I did not plan to spend such a long time away from blogging, in fact, I didn’t plan on spending any time away, but life, mostly school, got in the way. I also started dating someone – a total shock for me. So that meant that I spent a lot of time talking with them and not so much reading nor blogging.

However, now that I’m on my summer holidays (finally!), I can dedicate my time to my blog and my favourite hobby in the world: reading.

I’m very sorry for leaving you hanging with no explanation, but I promise I’m back and better than ever!

Reading Update

I have recently finished Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo, the sequel to Six of Crows. Unfortunately I had been spoiled for something so I thought that I wouldn’t cry at the end of this book. Boy, was I wrong :’) I have yet to write a review for it, but I will soon (I have a bunch of reviews to get to so be on the lookout for that in next couple of weeks).

In addition to that, I finished reading She Drives Me Crazy by Kelly Quindlen, one of my most antecipated releases of the year, and I’m sad to inform you that I was pretty disappointed by it :/ Detailed review coming soon!

I also decided to at last DNF an ARC that I started in April, its release month, but never had the will to pick up again. That’s Between the Bliss and Me by Lizzy Mason – I explained my reasoning for this here, if you’re curious.

Currently, I’m over 60% into one of my other antecipated releases of 2021 – Not My Problem by Ciara Smyth. If you don’t know by now, this author wrote my favourite book of last year, The Falling in Love Montage (click here for my review), so obviously I had to read her latest novel. I’m really liking it so far – it’s super funny but also deals with some serious topics.

Blogging Update

I already have a few posts planned, such as My Summer Reading Plans and The Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag. If you have any specific posts you would like me to do, let me know in the comments!

I’m going to try to be active on your blogs because I miss reading your posts so much. However, something I realised with taking a break is that I used to try so hard to read and comment on every. single. post. and that just did not work for me. It might seems obvious but I came to the conclusion that that’s not doable in the long run, specially if you have schoolwork to get to all day every day. I’ve decided that I’m going to have to be selective with which posts I read and that it’s okay if I interact with a post that’s already been out for like three days. I know that this will help me feel less stressed about blogging and that’s exactly what I want.

Regarding a posting schedule, I’m still not going to set one because I know that would be useless. I’ll try to post at least once a week and then see how things go from there.

Thank you so much for bearing with me – I’m forever grateful for this community 🥺

What is a book you recently read and loved? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I am literally so excited for your review of She Drives Me Crazy–it really disappointed me as well, for exactly one (maybe two) reasons, but everyone else seems to LOVE it so I can’t wait to see your thoughts and if they were the same! (I’ve been known to rant about this book in goodreads comments).
Also, congrats on beginning to date someone, that’s definitely exciting!
And I hope you enjoy Not My Problem, it was one of my favorite reads of the year!

      1. Don’t worry about that, hahaha
I accepted it a few days ago, I don’t know if you’ve noticed
I’m looking forward to interacting with you on there as well 🙂

    1. I can guess what you didn’t like about She Drives Me Crazy because there’s a specific aspect about it that was pretty problematic 😬 (that’s definitely sth I’ve done when I finish a book I dislike and go looking for reviews by people who also disliked it xD)
      Thank you :))
Ahhh, that makes me so happy to hear, I’m having such a great time reading it atm

      1. Yesyesyes the problematic aspect!!! Basically NO ONE has noticed and it drives me CRAZY (no pun intended) because it’s pretty obvious??? But everyone just LOVES it. I was going to do a book review on it, but I just thought of it like after I read that you were gonna do a book review on it so I didn’t wanna steal your thunder haha. But that being said…do you want to kinda collab on it? Like you know those posts (I don’t see many in the blogging community, but there are some in other places) where there’s two or more people having a conversation about something and that makes up the post? We could have the conversation over email and then each put it into our own posts. It is absolutely okay if you say no, though, I promise! I understand if you’ve already written the review or it just sounds too confusing, I just thought it would be a fun idea so we could bounce things off each other that we didn’t like, add to each other, etc.

  3. Welcome back! I look forward to reading whatever it is you decide to post 😊 And I feel you on the commenting thing 😅 I’ve also had to become a lot more selective, especially as I’ve come across more and more amazing bloggers, but it always makes me sad that I can’t keep up with everything everyone posts… I guess a day just has too few hours in it! 😂

  4. I totally understand being selective with posts you read even though I always feel bad for knowing more people in the blogging community. It IS less stressful. It’s good to have you back; I can’t wait to see what’s on your summer tbr
